In June 2021, the SDSN Youth network approved the Rostov State University of Economics-based international youth association ASECU Youth to become an official partner. The partnership period is 2 years and can be extended if agreed by both parties.

The SDSN Youth Network is a youth initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, that invites student clubs and communities, organizations run by youth or aimed at youth, research institutes, non-governmental organizations, youth scientific groups, as well as other organizations with experience and competencies in one or more areas of sustainable development and devoting a significant amount of their own resources and actions to research activities, informing the population and supporting sustainable development, education in the field of SDGs or implementing solutions for their implementation to become official partners.

The SDSN Youth initiative was approved in 2015 by Professor Jeffrey Sachs at the 5th meeting of the SDSN Leadership Council in Paris. Over the past six years, the network has expanded rapidly and today includes more than 750 partners, 23 regional and national networks, 127 participating countries and 2,600 program participants. The mission of SDSN Youth is to empower young people around the world to develop solutions for sustainable development. The common strategic vision in the need to maintain the UN SDGs was the reason for the establishment of cooperation between ASECU Youth and SDSN Youth.

Cooperation with the SDSN Youth Black Sea (Thessaloniki, Greece) and the application of ASECU Youth for membership in the parent organization SDSN Youth was carried out in October 2020. Officially, the first jointly held event was a 3-day session of the SDSN Youth Black Sea regional network “How much do You(th) know about climate?”, held on May 27-29, 2021 in an online format. ASECU Youth President Milena Balanova (Russia), Secretary Violina Kirilova (Bulgaria) and Board member Konstantinos Bakri (Greece) moderated one of the eight sessions Climate Finance.

ASECU Youth hopes for fruitful cooperation with SDSN Youth and raising awareness of students of member universities about the challenges of countries and humanity as a whole within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals concept.
