The first progress of RSUE’s students majoring in Software Engineering in the new season of the competition “Digital Breakthrough”

On April 16, a new season of the country's most important hackathon started in Russia as part of the competition “Digital Breakthrough” organized by the platform “Russia - Land of Opportunities”. 

The first round of the competition was dedicated to solutions for the education sector - “Education. Personnel Development” (EDTech). 161 teams presented EdTech case solutions aimed at personnel development and digitalization of education in the country. Digital assistants, circles and sections, HR, internships, digital literacy, gamification are the issues to which the solutions of the hackathon developers are devoted. 

The cases were formed by such organizations as RAEC, MAIL.RU Group, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. 

By results of the projects introduction, again, as in the last season, RSUE’s developers distinguished themselves. As part of the WEBJOX team, Vladimir Babaev, a student of the Faculty of Computer Technologies and Information Security took the third place in the case prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and a prize of 50 000 rubles. 

Another student of RSUE’s Master Studies Institution, a graduate of the Faculty of Computer Technologies and Information Security, Maxim Saplev, with his team “REGISTER-DEPENDENT” entered the shortlist in the fourth place and received the right, like the WEBJOX team, to participate in the final of the competition. 

It should be noted that “Digital Breakthrough” is the largest competition for professionals in the digital economy. The competition is a series of thematic hackathons, where participants need to develop an IT solution for case studies from the largest government and business partners in 48 hours. Competitions are held online, but each participant can come to a specially organized IT hub in their city, where the atmosphere of a real hackathon, round-the-clock access to infrastructure and uninterrupted Internet, as well as an excellent networking opportunity await the candidates! 

The goal of the project is to form and develop teams capable of creating and implementing applied digital products. 

Each participant will have an opportunity to: 

● Define new career opportunities for him- or herself and become a part of the active IT-community of the country. 

● Solve real problems of businesses and the state and receive proposals for IT products design and implementation. 

● Compete for a prize fund of up to RUB 55 million.  

● Develop the project in the “Digital Breakthrough” business accelerator / 

Young professionals and enthusiasts gain new knowledge, practical experience, live communication with experts from the industry.
