RSUE hosts participants of Black Sea and Caspian Sea Cooperation Forum: Safety. Stability. Growth

 

The I Black Sea and Caspian Sea Cooperation Forum: Safety. Stability. Growth was opened at Rostov State University of Economics on October, 6

The plenary meeting was held in the Assembly Hall of the University. The forum was organized by RSUE and the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki, Greece), University of Piraeus (Greece), the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Rostov region, the Cultural Autonomy of Greeks in Rostov-on-Don were partners of the forum. The forum is an international scientific event with open discussions of representatives of public authorities, businessmen, scholars, experts from countries forming the region dedicated to relevant problems of socio-economic and humanitarian development.

“We are giving a start to the new format of interaction in the sphere of university and academic science, – Vice-Rector for science and innovations Natalia Vovchenko noted.  –  RSUE and the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences are united by the readiness to combine approaches, intensify multidisciplinary cooperation in research aimed at attaining security, stability and development of the whole macro-region”.
“We are having a lot of points of contact. According to preliminary estimates, total oil reserves account for 200 bln. barrels. The Black Sea region is a vague direction of international cooperation of Russia, – RSUE’s Rector Adam Albekov remarked. – The region unites about 300 mln. people. It is formed of successful countries, their real GDP being approximately 5 tln. USD and accounting for 7 % of world trade. The volume of foreign trade of Russia with other region’s countries is 100 bln. USD, 30 % of which account for the Southern Federal District”.  

A lot of honored guests delivered the welcoming address at the plenary meeting, namely Deputy Chairman of the SSC of the RAS O.V.Stepanyan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Rostov region E.E.Mamichev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Rostov region L.A.Zhadan, Vice-Presidents of
the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Rostov region S.L.Abdulazizova, S.B.Shneider, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in the SFD V.Asoyan, Vice-Rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Nikos Varsakelis.

A number of RSUE’s partners sent their welcome letters to organizers of the forum: President of the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Greeks of Russia Ivan Savvidi, Chairman of the European vector of Jean Monnet Program, director of Jean Monnet Centre of excellence, Professor of University of Piraeus Eleftherios Thalassinos, Vice-President of the Eurasian Business Community Georgios Grigoriadis, Director of Institute of National and Regional Economy of Riga Technical University M.N.Shenfelde, Rector of D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics Ivan Marchevski, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Tejmuraz Beridze, Vice-Rector for Science of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University.

After the ceremony parallel discussions in the framework of the sections began. There were the following sections:

  • geostrategic position of the Southern macro-region in the system of regional foresight and the system of hazards containment;
  • new imperatives of regional economic security of the South of Russia in the system of external and internal challenges: from an individual to a society;
  • architecture of regional economic system: localization of production, investments and new growth points;
  • financial circuit of gaining balanced macroregional development and security;
  • “green” economy as a driver for sustainable development: supranational and macroregional aspects;
  • an energetic trilemma of global and regional development: risks and opportunities;
  • hellenism in the development of the Black Sea-Caspian region: the past and the present;
    industry 4.0: information technologies, postindustrial economy and a block-chain evolution.
