Visit of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Lumière University Lyon 2, France

Recently RSUE was visited by Dr. Luc Baumstark, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Lumière University Lyon 2 - the leading university in social and economic sciences of  the second largest French city. The main goal of this visit was to develop the concept of bilateral relations between our universities which has been launched back in 2012 with the signing of Agreement of Academic and Scientific Relations.

The first stage of partner activities included student and academic mobility. Within a year a group of RSUE students had a language and study internship, a group of academic and management staff visited a couple of seminars and courses on advanced training, three students participated in a one-year student mobility exchange programme in Lyon.

This positive experience showed that the universities can continue with more complicated and mature activities, so the agenda of the Meeting in Rostov included discussion of the concept of Joint Master Programs in Economics and Management. Such kind of programs require good language skills from their participants, including our current and future undergraduate students. These are to be achieved via a range of new short-time mobility programs and institutional projects, e.g. Lumière University Lyon 2 and the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Lyon supported RSUE’s initiative to create a platform for studying Russian language in Lyon.

This year I was lucky to take part  in the International Student Conference and Summer School, hold by Students’ Association of South and eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region Economic Universities (ASECU Youth) for the third time. Every student can take part in the activities of this Association, all you need is a knowledge of English, good level of knowledge in the field of economics, and of course a strong wish. This year's conference was held at a remarkably beautiful and friendly Montenegrin town of Kotor, located on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, Adriatic sea. More than 80 students from different countries had the opportunity to present their papers within the topic "Knowledge economy and its impact on the development of the countries from East and South East Europe."

3rd International Conference of Students’ Association of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region Economic Universities

Students’ Association of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region Economic Universities (ASECU Youth) continues its active work. University of Montenegro hosted the 3rd International Conference «Knowledge Economy - Impact on Sustainable Development of the Countries from East and South-East Europe» in July 15 - 20, 2013 at Kotor. The conference was attended by 94 participants from 17 universities of 12 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine and USA). The delegation of RSUE was presented by 6 students.

Activities in Montenegro had a great importance for the Association – it summed up the results of its first reporting period. On behalf of the Board the report was presented by the first President of ASECU Youth (student of RSUE) - Ekaterina Vernezi. Despite its young age, the Association managed to achieve a lot: hold three international conferences in Russia, Romania and, this year, in Montenegro; two contests for the Best Student Scientific Paper in Economic Field; two summer schools for students from participating universities; developed ASECU Youth website; increased number of members from 9 to 12 countries.

Association has big plans for the future and the new Board, which has recently being reelected for the next 2 years (according to the Association’s Charter) will initiate and realize them. Nikolay Shvetsov, student of RSUE, was elected as Russia's representative at the Association, and as his deputy - Anastasia Rybasova, student of Southern Federal University. By secret voting there were elected 7 members of the new Board, and Nikolay Shvetsov was among them. The members of the new Board elected their President, whom for the next two years became Philip Petrovich, University of Montenegro.
